Of the Fathers of the Fallen. Believe in 117
I bought Halo 3 today! And after school, i played it quickly, ended it quickly. The story was astouding as usual, though i hoped that the rumours of Master Chief, aka Spartan 117, aka John 117, aka John, aka ‘The Demon’, would die would be false…. well, there is no confirmation of his death, but the overall assumption is that he did. The arbitor and the elites are still alive and kicking by the end. Well, everything for them seems to be working out fine. At the memorial, there are pictures of the fallen, including johnson (at least he died with dignity and blew that piece of tin can a new one, you fought well, soldier.) and Miranda Keyes (is it in the family line to just die? Her death was… slightly silly. But she was a brave and smart commander. Rest well) and Master Chief has no picture, so someone just scratched ‘117′ onto the memorial…. makes you wonder, huh?
Anyway, gravemind is toast, and so everyone is happy. The prophets are dead, the flood are most likely wiped out, and everything is back to normal… Since the flood are gone (they never actually said that, but since gravemind is dead, we assume they are now back to stupid slugs without a brain) the shelter that was locked down, trapping the other Spartans and the good old Doctor (from the novel, ‘Ghosts of Onyx’) would be released, and find that the war is over? I think not… they never said anything about what happens to the rest of the covenent. Sure, the prophets are dead, but who knows whether the brutes are all dead? What would happen if there was a (though extremely unlikely to happen, given their stupidity) grunt revolution? Well, since the series is over, it is now up to the fan-fic writers to get new ideas flowing. I would like to think that Master Chief isn’t dead yet. Maybe resting in some old cottage somewhere…. like real.
Ben didn’t believe i could finish the game in one day, i did. I also bought a new guilty gear game, and the last volume of .hack//G.U in english. I thought it would take a longer time to get that out, but nevermind.
I found out that all of the people in my jap culture group are all of the same age as me… cool.
I’m going t have steamboat on thurs to celebrate the mooncake festival. A bit late, but still nice. I invited all of the singaporeans to come over, but i’m not too sure on the steamboat, since oriental is still closed, i don’t have much choice in ingredients.
Capitalism doesn’t stop, but heck, it’s fun
The newest in the guitar freak and drummania series is out in japan! The V4 looks, as always, freakish. The V3 look was more future, techno style. This one looks like caveman (it’s even called “Rock X Rock”, explains a lot, doesn’t it?). Well, i shouldn’t really be complaining about why there are so many versions. I love to play it, so i’m a fan, but i still don’t like it how it just keeps coming out none stop. Sure, new songs are nice, but still, it gets on my nerves.
I’m going to try to see if i can play the home-made program made by some fans. Apparently it works just about the same, but not having to wave your hands about like a mad flaming chicken with no head. Oh, i didn’t know that there were ps2 versions as well… i think i’ll check them out. Oh, speaking of arcade games like that… i wish arcana hearts came out in ps2 too…. i’ll buy it.
Welcome to the wasteland, hope you rot in peace
Argh, the sun is killing me. Well, it doesn’t bother that much, i just want to complain about something.
Ah, a new singaporean kid just flew in from miami. Wondered why he went there in the first place. America is by far, in my opinion only of course (so has no real weightage), the weirdest country, and most likely the worst the stay in. Sure, it is the ‘it’ town to be in, but seriously, it is full of propaganda and people dying that you can just call it ‘America, land of death and destruction’. You can paint the infamous black pirate flag on their national flag and people wouldn’t know the difference. I’m talking figuratively only. The worst state i’ve heard of? Texas. Gun crazy people, and from what i’ve heard from them, low IQ and racist to the core. I’ve not heard of anything good coming from America. Close to everything that people take pleasure in comes from there, but if you step back, you’ll see nothing but a country full of capitalism and consummerism. Nothing more, i guess.
Humans are beings of destruction. We take, but don’t give. Simple. We are the end of everything.
The attacker with a really low IQ, and my prof who needs coffee
I heard this from my forensic psyc class today, that there happens to be an attacker in the ruthland area. Scary, if you you’ve just heard it like that, but this attacker, from what i’ve heard, is really dumb. 4 attempts to assault, or sexually assault women on seperate occasions. All failed. Apparently, one occasion, the victim-to-be, just told him off, and he did.
My prof happened to appear on the news, on paper, audio, and video. So it would be on the newspaper, on the radio, and on TV. He gave his ’supposed’ expert testimony, but he gave the excuse of ‘not having his morning coffee’, so what he said on the news was very, very dumb. Well, at least from another expert’s point of view, he shouldn’t be giving out ‘personal’ beliefs on the case. Not much to do, anyway.
Dragons and Horses are equally stupid when you ride them
So i came back from a very long holiday, well, maybe not so long. 2 weeks. Ah, so i went over to EB and bought what i missed out. Three games. Lair, Two Worlds, and Medal of Honor: Airbourne. Well, i spent a lot of money, and i think i wasted them.
I tested Lair out first. What i found out, was that it was virtually impossible to switch movement from moving the controller about, to analog control, which in my opinion allows for more precision movement and control. Sure, it was fun waving my ps3 controller like a caveman waving his club, but it was tiring. Is their strategy? To tire me out? Get real. And i got stuck on one mission, because those stupid NPCs keep stopping my attacks (friendlies, mind you, not my enemies who irritate me), with their constant “Help me!” or “Our men are dying!”, well F you. Keep disturbing me. Tell me to torch the enemy navy, and while i just started to do so, in come the enemy ‘warbeasts’, and they tell me to deal with those, and when i turn my attention to those hunkering creatures, in come ‘rhinos’, and so each time i try to switch my attack, in comes a new enemy. I can’t keep up! and that map is so freaking huge! What’s more, getting my stupid dragon to turn around is hard. I shake the controller upwards to make it do a 180, it does a left bank. Dumb shit.
So i got pissed, and switched to Airbourne. Okay, not so bad, at least i can see a life bar instead of guessing how much life i’ve got, like call of duty. But i died in the first mission, because my machine gun wouldn’t hit the enemy even at point blank range, and the pistol does close to zero damage. Hiding behind a sandbag is just like trying to take cover from a nuclear bomb behind an egg.
Last game, Two worlds. I thought it was like Oblivion. But no. Oblivion is at least a hundred times better. This dumb game, does not allow much customization as they advertized. Controls stick quite often, and the horses, well, like the title of this post, dumb. It wouldn’t know the difference between left and right. Tell it to go right while riding at a certain speed, and it turns left. What’s worse? Half way through the BEGINNING mission, the entire screen went haywire. That’s right, with static and what-not. Hey, i didn’t buy a second hand game. It was brand new, with the security device still fucking inside. It made everyone turn and look at me when i tried to go through the security at the Bay. Dumb place.
Anyway, so classes have started, and i like my profs. They’re really funny. I’m taking Japanese Culture Study, and the prof is mad about manga. In fact, she said she did her PhD on Manga. I didn’t know you could do that. Anyway, when she started lecturing on the types of manga, and the otakus, i completely understood what she said. In fact, the way she described an extreme otaku, kind of fits me. What a revelation. Okay, so it was interesting. But she kind of heavily emphasized on shoujo manga. Can’t blame her, she’s a she. So yeah. But her view of shounen manga are very diluted, and sort of bias. She showed the extreme of both sides, but for fruit basket as one of the text? Fruit basket is one of the few shoujo manga that can be read by both male and female (as in it was sort of meant to be, though more for females). Personally, i don’t understand why people who want to read a manga with really horrible art. I wouldn’t be able to read those kinds of manga, they just make me want to throw up.
Though she is my professor, and i did learn new things from her, i think she hasn’t really gone into deep details about each. I know only slightly more about her in some parts. Well, best not to disturb the prof, right? After all, what i know may be wrong, so that is why i’m taking this course, to see what i may have not gotten right.
I had a class right after my jap culture… in the same class, so in total, i sat in the same chair for a total of 3 hours. Ouch, just like summer all over again.
