Anyway, i saw a bunch of doujins called “Epilogue of Evagelion”, that details what would happen after the end of Evagelion, with the World devoid of all humans except for Shinji and Asuka. The two decide to travel to Germany to where Asuka was born and raised, and along the way a lot of funny stuff happen. But the most important thing of the doujin is that the two of them begin to accept their reality, accept their weaknesses and still continue walk together. Asuka undergoes the most change as she slowly begins to realize and accept her love for Shinji. Shinji already knew he likes Asuka, and being glad that Asuka is still with him. The two finally reach Germany’s Nerv branch and settle down. It would be here that Asuka finally admits that she likes him. Fast forward many years and you see their children. All 8(+1 still in Asuka) of them.

The two eldest look like Rei and Kaoru. The Rei look-a-alike is called Mei, and is considered the most serious and hardworking. It is possible for a child of Shinji and Asuka to look to Rei since Rei is essentially a clone of Shinji’s mother. The next two is best described as genderbent Shinji and Asuka. A male Asuka who likes fishing (and also looks a bit like Kaoru), and a female Shinji who wears glasses (in the doujin before the time skip, there was a chapter where Asuka forced Shinji to cross-dress and was surprised to find out that he looked cute as a girl and dubbed the new Shinji as Shinko since ‘Ko’ is often used to put at the end of names to make them feminine). The next two look exactly (and also act exactly) like Shinji and Asuka. The last two are still small children but they look like Shinji and Asuka as well.

Well, anyway, the entire series is very nice and touching. I just can’t keep away from them no matter how many times i read it. And i end up listening to the Eva ver. of Fly me to the Moon. Asuka sings it quite a number of a times to Shinji (who doesn’t understand english so she punches him for being dense). I don’t know what it is about this doujin but it is very…. fulfilling? I don’t know how to explain it well, but reading it makes me feel warm and fuzzy and whole…. i know, i’m freaking myself out too. And i’m singing Fly me to the Moon!!!!  GAH!!! !@$%$@$&*%$*(&)$!@#~!&!!!!

And onto the next topic. TIME TRAVEL.

Or more like Wormholes.This is one of those times when i just spout of random nonsense so ignore unless you want to be amused by random crap. Another Steven Hawkings special on Discovery channel aired not too long ago and it discussed the properties of wormholes and time travel.

Now admittingly, i don’t really think time travel is a whole good idea. But what the program says is that by theory, a large piece of mass ( volume or density also counts) would actually slow time around it down. The larger the mass the more time would be slowed. Now what the hell? Is time some sort of breeze that has to twist and turn around objects? Apparently yes, in a layman’s term. But the objects on Earth are too small to radically affect the time as we know it. The Earth’s sense of time is already different from other planets, so only something on the scale of the Sun would really show an obvious change in time. A black hole would do the same. A large mass of super condensed… something, that warps everything, and even light cannot escape it. By flying around a black hole, you can travel into the future… As in, time within the ship flying around the black hole would be slowed compared to elsewhere.

This also applies to travelling close to the speed of light. Travelling at the speed of light, let alone going faster than that speed, is impossible by any means. Light is the main rule that enforces reality unto us. Or something like that. But travelling at the speeds near the speed of light enables us to slow down time within the train. For an object that travels near the speed of light, things would appear to go by quickly. Light is still needed to ground the object to existence, so the speak as if you go beyond that speed, light cannot reach you. Invisible? Not sure. The theory made sense at the time but now i’m just rambling.

A topic that was touched in the documentary was the theory of wormholes. Wormholes are basically tunnels or holes in the fabric of time and space that connects one point to another. Sounds simple enough, but blow it into the sense of space travel or time travel. If you can enlarge a wormhole and travel through it, you could end up at another end of the Universe. Not that it would happen. However it is possible to ‘tune’ a wormhole, so to speak, to be similar. Create a wormhole at one point and create its exit (tune it to be similar) at another point and you have an instant way to travel. This idea is exploited in multiple sci-fi novels, movies and games. Yet to truly understand it, you have to go nuts.

Time is said to be a line. The fourth dimension. We live in three dimension. Width, Length, and height. But time, as physicists say, is also in the form of ‘length’. I have no clue how or what they used to explain, but suppose time can be manipulated…. we know that is possible through large mass objects and black holes and speed that get close to the speed of light. But what about wormholes? It is hard to imagine small tiny holes in the fabric of time and space that are connected to similar holes at the other end of the Universe. But if there is a hole, then there must be an exit. Or not. The very nature of time is rather awkward, unusually subtle and yet violent at the same time.You can stare at the ticking second hand of a clock, and the more you focus on the second hand, the more time seems to slow down. Looking up at the clouds and if you look carefully enough, even on the day with no wind, the clouds would move as time would speed up.

Perspective of the mind is important to how we view time.If we see time the same way as the documentary shows it, then the concept of wormholes is sound… if you actually know what the heck they are talking about. But what if you look at time differently? What if you view time as a type of energy? What if you view time as type of particle? Now, by particle i don’t mean it manifests itself as a material. No, by particle i mean presence. Just like air, time would be all around and yet we do not feel it because we are used it. It is only when we start to think and ponder that we come up with the concept of time. It is by no means a human invention, but thinking as time as something similar to an object would make it seem so.

Creating wormholes and tunnels to allow people to travel across large distances in an instant have long been staples of sci-fi. However each and every one of the dictates that machines used to create these holes and tunnels require a ridiculous amount of energy. But would you really need to? Sure, if you surge two different source of electricity or whatever power (radiation, microwaves or fart power) you can muster directly at each other, you might get a surge. A concentration of that energy in one point. Would two different types of energy mix? Let’s say electricity and radiation? Not a whole lot. Think of them like frequencies off a radio. One is a rock channel and the other is country. They don’t mix and they aren’t on the same frequency. As such, you cannot create a mix tape with rock and country unfortunately (or fortunately for those who have to listen to that crap). And simply forcing the same type of energy into one another would only cause a large concentration of that energy. It would do nothing but maybe tickle the belly of King Kong.

So what? What can we do to either ‘create’ or expand existing wormholes? Wormholes are affected by radiation, natural radiation that keeps it from doing anything drastic. It is like a form of self regulation. Radiation is created and attracted by the wormholes, but they would never be able to enter the wormhole due to distortions in time. The radiation would continue to encircle the wormhole and create energy (feedback) that would cancel out or cause the wormhole to explode (i wasn’t really paying any attention, and really, i’m not a physicist). Either way it’s gone. But then again… radiation. And going back to my example of radio frequencies. It is not hard to imagine that everything has their own resonance frequency. Solid objects that appear in our reality all have time, and it is not hard to say that Time itself has its own resonance frequencies. Remember my exercise of staring at the second hand of a clock or looking at the clouds? You are attuning yourself to a set frequency of time.

Using this thought, what if we could find a resonance frequency for creating a wormhole. Or just tearing time and space for the heck of it. A certain type of energy would be necessary, not even using a whole lot maybe, to create a type of wormhole. To create its exit, you would find the resonance frequency of that wormhole you just made and re create elsewhere. Trying to create the exit of one worm hole next to another is nuts. Feedback would be crazy.

Yeah… crazy, just like my previous ideas for new fuel-free engines. That was really dumb and no, i haven’t figured out a way to stabilize them or even make them functional.

The limited number of entries in universities, the limited number of food in the super market, the house that you bought for your family has robbed the shelter of another. The peace rally you went for to stop war has caused inconvenience for others like the police, like the people who do not want to do anything with your rally. War and peace, either way, you must be prepared to sacrifice others to achieve one.

Sure, this sort of story plot may work for a novel, but for a game? No. Doesn’t work at all. Does this mean they plan to make a sequel? They better, cuz this game has more bugs and loopholes than my grand dad’s garden. The saving system needs work (esp. on the xbox system), the distribution of difficulty needs to be better arranged, and for crying out loud, if the main focus is being able to transform into a dragon, better make sure we can transform into a dragon for at least 70% of the game! About 80% of the time i find myself walking on the ground and feeling like a puny insect being ready to be squashed. Also, it would better for more indept character customization. How about a dragon customization as well? I’m not talking about just armour and stuff, i’m talking changing the entire look of the dragon.

Anyway, i’ve gone off on the loony bus, buying about $800 CAD worth of games from ebay. I’m nuts, i know. So i’m waiting for a whole bunch of them to arrive sooner or later. First, we have Ar Tonelico 3 (ps3), then we have God Eater (psp), End of Eternity (ps3, the english version is called Resonance of fate, i think End of Eternity sounds cooler), Luck Star: Net Idol Meister (psp), Sengoku Hime (ps2 and psp. Though i played the pc ver. it’s always nicer to see improved character designs), Fate/Extra (psp, where you can make your own character fight in the holy grail war!! but it’s only a pre-order for 18-march, not much longer!!!), and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (psp). Now i’m just twidling my thumbs whilst i wait…. oh, and doing my essays and writing more junk.

There’s something about writing i found out that is rather similar to manga…. or at least in my perspective. Both require the power of luck. For manga (according to Bakuman, which is a manga itself), there are two types of mangaka, one who calculates, and one who doesn’t. The ones who calculate see the trend of what people are into and then start drawing. These guys just want to be popular and would do as the fans want. Basically, they crowd pleasers. The non-calculating types are the ones who draw what they want and hope they make it big. It is usually these sort of people who make it big.

Now, when we look at writers, especially fan-fiction writers, we are also classed the same way. Those who follow trends and write what everyone is writing, then they change accordingly to their readers’ taste in a rather radical manner. I wouldn’t call these people real writers though, as they are merely following what others tell them to do. The other type of writer, is the one who writes what they want to see done. There are tons of misses if you follow this. I am this type of writer, and i have about a 70% miss on my stories. A couple have a good following, but it isn’t considered a really good thing. I write what i want, and if people like it, they follow. Luck, that is all there is to it.

Well, i’ve revised my dragon age fic and have started to write it out. Finishing my fable story. I decided that i wouldn’t write a continuation of the fable fic, since i have too much things to write about and not a lot of people follow it. Personally, i hurried in its production to the point where i think it’s junk. Why did i post that anyway? A couple of original story ideas began floating in my head again…. it’s that time of the year, huh.

While writing my sci-fi fics (Star Ocean 3: To what End? series, Jedi Knight: Regret, Macross F: Upon Gentle Wings, Gundam Seed: Face in the Mirror, EVE online: Lost Hope), i began to tinker with ideas about the different possibilities of technologies. This is why i love sci-fi fics, you can invent so much shit and it would always make sense. But of course, these things have to be within the realm of reality. There must be designs, problems and flaws. You can’t pull a black box out from a hat and expect everyone to know what is inside. Everything is within the realm of the imagination, and that is where the problem also lies. Everything within the realm of sci-fi is close to what we humans know and understand. Our image of aliens are limited to a mere jigsaw of animals and plants on Earth. Our ideas of space travel is fixed within the boundaries of large hunky ships that looks more like a scrapyard than an actual flying ship. By and large, our imagination is not limitless. The limit is actually till the atmosphere of our planet. Until we can venture out far into space and see for ourselves things that we have not seen before, then we would be stuck here with limited views.

Anyway, while tinkering with ideas, i came up with two main engine designs. We know that engines are the core of any space exploration. Without engines, you aren’t going anywhere. The problem with engines in space ships, is that they tend to use new and crazy elements. But even those have limits, strangely enough. And fuel is always a problem. I was planning to put these two engine types that i created into the fleets of my Star Ocean fic. The first one was one i had been thinking about for a long time, since i was 15, to be exact. A vacuum engine. While it does sound a little strange, and i admit, it is weird, it works on the suction power of vacuums. Not the household appliance, but rather the vacuum of space. Now, for a vacuum to actually have suction power, there must be a difference in 1) pressure, 2) air (particle density). I haven’t gotten all of the physics down, and i admit that i hate physics, flunked it a couple of times and never touched it again (though the textbook was a good weapon). By utilizing the constant suction power of vacuum, then recycling the air, power could be generated. At first, the idea of using this engine had placed it outside the space vessel, where it would utilize the vacuum of natural space to propel itself forward, much like the jet engine of most commercial planes.

Problems with this is that once the air pressure and particles go through, they are both of in equilibrium, resulting in an instant loss of power. More or less, this method would only last a second. Not very productive, i should say. Then the idea shifted to placing a particle in a vacuum tube, and rigged the tube in such a way that pressure is constantly shifting, resulting in the particle to move through the tube at extremely speeds, generating heat and power. More like radiation and microwaves, but energy, nonetheless. However, this idea is also dumb, in more ways than one.

So i shift my focus onto the next idea. The black box engine. I call this one the “black hole drive”, or “Pandora’s engine”. Why? Because it is better not to touch it. I was watching a discovery channel special on John Hawking’s theory of everything. While that documentary only did a brief summary, and explained it in extremely simple terms so that even a monkey would understand, i nonetheless took in as much information as i could. Black holes, as it seems, are a collection of anti-matter. Supposedly in the universe, multiple split instances of particles suddenly coming into existence together with their counter-part, anti-matter. And within that split instance, they fuse back into nothing once more. While it sounds all fancy and cool, not to mention completely unrealistic, it is in fact, real. Or at least in theory. Anti-matter exists, we know that, and when anti-matter gather, they form a black hole. Everything would be pulled in, planets, light, time. The concept of time is distorted, light doesn’t exist in black holes, it is a simple devouring thing…. or un-thing…. anti-thing? whatever.

Black holes get smaller, in truth, as the anti-matter would soon try to compress and cancel each other out. However there is only so much it can contract (note that by the same theory, our universe has expanded out greatly after the big bang, and will soon slow down and start to contract once more). Once it has reached a certain size or mass (or unsize or unmass… i think i better stop), it would be managable. The black hole engine suspends a small black hole, and wraps the black hole with another black hole. Sounds impossible, doesn’t it? I thought of placing a second black hole next to the first, but i would think the attraction between the two would result in a rather catastrophic explosion, or implosion, wouldn’t you? Wrapping a second black hole around the first seemed to contain the energies that the two would generate, or at least control its flow. The radiation that both black holes emit, together with the energies they would release upon close proximity with one another would provide a strong, and very long lasting energy source. At least in my head. However, this engine is too dangerous. Go out of control, and an entire fleet would disappear in an instant. Not a very pretty sight. All in all, both designs of the engines are flawed, but they work in the context of being mere sci-fi.

I haven’t exactly worked out all of variables for both engines, though i have done rough design plans. I’ll need to think up of ways to further straighten out each idea.

The design for Lightning was a female version of Cloud Strife, though Nomura said that she ended up not being feminine. WHO CARES?! She is hot! Her tsundere/cool/cold character is totally awesome!

I haven’t finished my final fantasy XIII yet, but from what i’ve gotten so far, i am completely smitten. Her voice is done by my all time favourite seiyuu, Maya Sakamoto. I’m saying that i like all of Maya’s characters. In fact, i only like a select number. Of them, is Ryougi Shiki, my number two favourite anime girl.

Going back to Lightning, her real name is Eclair Farron, and note that Eclair means Lightning in french. It can be used as a name, though normally for boys. It is also an interesting note, that i have been using the name Eclair for quite a number of my characters (females of course) in my stories for a number of years. I am not taking credit for this, however, as i took the name Eclair from the main girl in Kiddy Grade. Eclair is an interesting name so i used it often. And i must say, that name fits Lightning very well…. Eclair Farron, now my number one favourite game girl.

I used to look up the news of crazy people who decide non-living objects as their spouses, either for mental health reasons, or for crazy ideas, and laugh at them. A guy who decided to marry a poster of himself in China, a guy in Japan who decided to marry a 2D game character who would react like a real girl…. a guy who dated a pillow with the D.C. II character on it…. yeah, now i’m going to joi nthe league…. except i’m going to write it out. Maybe because she is voiced by my favourite seiyu, maybe because she is 3D and looks very much like a real girl, and maybe because she is also 21! the same age as me?!

Age may seem like a ridiculous reason, but in psychology, we know that people tend to associate better if they have things in common. We look for things we have in common, and if there are any present, the connection would be stronger than if a relationship was created with nothing in common.

So yes, i have gone past the point of sanity. I like Lightning, Eclair Farron, too much. Maybe because i have been waiting for this game for far too long, that i’ve channeled all of my pent up excitement unto her, but really, in all honesty, i really like her.

However, concerning what i said about Archer-ko’s identity in the previous entry, i have new things to throw in because of what book 4 has stated.

This is a bit of a spoiler, so unless you want to get spoiled, don’t read ahead.

In book 4, we are shown a battle scene, where an army of Einzbern homonculus are battling against really ugly mutated giants. In the previous book, we know that Archer-ko was defeated and Sella sacrificed her life to defeat Emiya. In the process, Archer-ko’s head was left in the care of Ilya and Zelretch, who plan to revive Archer-ko in order to defeat and destroy the new holy grail, the young girl called Requiem. The battle seems hopeless for the Einzbern army as they were taking heavy losses. Only Liz is capable of single handedly felling those giants. Within the Einzbern castle, Zelretch is using Ilya’s magic and also possibly part of her life force, to bring Archer-ko back. They intend to bring Archer-ko’s spirit back as a heroic spirit (eirei) and use Ilya as a master to provide prana (mana in the Type moon universe). The castle is attacked, and parts of the debris falls down onto Ilya.

We are then looking at the young girl Requiem, who has gone back to the ugly dudes who were the mastermind behind her creation and her powers. She demanded that they restore Archer-ko back (she is carrying Archer-ko’s headless body). Her powers, however, seem to take over, gloating at her lingering feelings of love for Archer-ko (we’re talking about a sort of mother and daughter love here. Requiem never received love, and so Archer-ko was the first person she felt close to since Archer-ko was the first person to touch her without dying). Her powers are introduced as ‘Anri Mayu’, which sounds very close to ‘Angra Mainyu’ (Supposedly Avenger’s true name in Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, though Avenger was revealed to be a mere boy who became a village sacrifice). It could be the same thing, as the kanji basically reads as ‘Evil of the World’, or something close to that. Requiem’s power takes in the body of Archer-ko, and forms an image of Archer-ko, gloating at Requiem, and trying to convince her to follow its orders. It takes on the form of a giant skull. The ugly dude who created Requiem states something about releasing the ‘sisters’ (doesn’t that sound like Railgun?)

We then shift back to the Einzbern battle. Ilya wakes up from under the debris, being protected by the homonculus who held her down for the ceremony. Zelretch comments that they bet failed. The ceremony failed to bring back Archer-ko’s body, but they did managed to bring back her soul. Or was it? Zelretch and Ilya become slight confused and shocked to find that Archer-ko’s spirit materialized as a sword. Zelretch says that her soul might have taken that form due to her being a ‘protector’. The sword’s form is similar to the one shown in vol 1 when her circuits were being devoured. While Zelretch thinks that they failed, Ilya says otherwise. She tasks one of the homonculus to use the sword to drive it into Ilya’s chest. By merging Archer-ko’s soul into Ilya’s body, they fuse together. This creates a seemingly grown up Ilya who has Archer-ko’s abilities and a new costume design. Quite sexy, i might add (GOOD JOB HIMURA).

The newly revived Archer-ko saves Liz from being crushed by shooting swords into the monster that held her, creating giant holes in the monster’s body. I didn’t know that her swords could cause such a big impact. Ilya’s consciousness is still within Archer-ko, and Archer-ko uses some magic to fix her hair into the style we all know Archer-ko to have. Ilya asks how Archer-ko felt about using her body, which Archer-ko replies that as a physical container, it is in very bad condition, but as a magic circuit (magician’s weapon), it is the best. Archer-ko says a few words of prayer and encouragement to a fallen Einzbern homonculus, saying that she did her duty and she could now rest easy. As monsters try to destroy Archer-ko as she was kneeling, swords blew giant holes in them (kick ass Archer-ko!). Then Archer-ko says a very famous Archer (emiya) line. “It’s okay if i kill them, right?”

Archer-ko kicks as, destroying those monsters with ease. Ilya wonders if Archer-ko was alright with killing monsters as she vowed to be the protector of all. Archer-ko replies by saying that she can kill monsters because they aren’t humans. The way she says this is like saying she doesn’t care about anything other than humans. Her personality has gone through a rather drastic change, no longer being playful and carefree. Her attitude now takes on a serious and rather dark presence. The fleeing enemy mages decide to use the ‘sister’ that was sent to them, not knowing what it was in the first place.

Back to the battle at Einzbern castle, Archer-ko finishes off the last of the monsters with a swing from a large sword (AWESOME). Ilya says she is rather surprised that Archer-ko would mercilessly slaughter these monsters even though she says herself to be an ‘ally of justice’. Archer-ko then replies by saying that if it was ‘him’, the real thing (i’m guessing she is referring to Emiya, and him being the real guardian and ally of justice), then he would try to save them all. But she is merely a fake. She then goes on saying how she only wanted to be acknowledged by him (Emiya), that everything she did, she merely did for her own sake, and in the end, she ended up saving no one. She tried to be an ally of justice (one who saves everyone) but she couldn’t save anyone. Ilya wonders what she was talking about, but Archer-ko simply says that she was just thinking about her purpose in life, the reason of her existence. That was when the ‘sister’ appeared. A doll like creature or clone of Requiem possessed by the cursed power of Requiem.

Now that the book is over, we’ll have to wait for the next volume. Although with this book, we are closer to finding out Archer-ko’s identity. The large hint would be her soul. It comes in the form of a sword, not a human. As this is merely a theory, it could be wrong. But if we take things from here, it is possible that Archer-ko is not human in the first place. She wants to be acknowledged by Emiya, and she harbours feelings for him. It all sounds like Archer-ko is actually a sword created by Emiya. Possibly one of his finest blades that he perfected, and was then given life. Emiya could have given the sword the form of Ilya, as it was stated in Archer’s (Emiya) past that one of his largest regret was not being able to save Ilya from dying. Emiya gave the sword Ilya’s image, though older, and soon the sword became self-aware. Taking on Emiya’s discarded goals, she decided to face Emiya constantly, trying to gain his acknowledgement and his attention. Then, she could have been summoned by Rin into the grail war, which explains her involvement with Rin, and also explains how Emiya could not know who she really is if she came from parallel universe.

Another possible theory would be that Archer-ko was a sword created by Emiya, but when Ilya died, he became depressed, and when he became a counter guardian, his regrets and discarded goals were picked up by the sword. This theory would also need Emiya to create the sword as something he treasured greatly, something he tried to perfect over and over again. The sword became self-aware, taking on the form of his largest regret, Ilya, but in an older form. the rest is self-explanitory.

Why do i say these two theories? Of a sword taking on Ilya’s image? Well, because in book 4, after Ilya and Archer-ko fused, we really do see an older version of Ilya. Simply changing hairstyles and hey-presto, Archer-ko! Though there are differences in the facial positioning, and certain shapes. Nevertheless, it is very similar.

Oh yes…. the new design of the uniform (GOOD JOB AGAIN HIMURA) really emphasizes the chest. Sexy…. it makes Arhcer-ko look to have a larger chest than before… not that it is bad. Just don’t make it too big. Oh yes, after the fusing, Archer-ko gets the Fail-Note, her noble phantasm. And her version of Kanshou and Bakuya are called Otto and Bonifatius. Not sure what the latter means, but Otto is a number… 10? i think. Wait…. Otto is also a name…. well, i don’t know what the names mean, but i’m sure there is a deep meaning to them, why else would Himura choose such complex new names for a modified Kanshou and Bakuya?

For those of you who don’t know, Type-Moon is a Japanese company who creates very, very good masterpieces. Of course at least two of their franchises are 18+, so it is questionable. Their famous works are (in terms of when they came out) Kara no Kyoukai, Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night, Mahou Tsukai no Yoru. Note that Mahou Tsukai no Yoru (Night of Magician) was done early, but never released, so therefore it was placed last on my list.

Kara no Kyoukai (edge of emptiness), is one of the most complex and romantic stories i’ve ever read/watched. I love Ryougi Shiki, and she is one of my top three favourite anime girls of all time (the other two being 1st Yamamoto Yohko from spaceship girl Yamamoto Yohko, and 3rd Cinque from Nanoha StrikerS, i like Nanoha as well, but she is 4th on my list). Maybe i like Ryougi’s personality, but her skills are by-far one of the most powerful in the Type-Moon universe. She has the Ryougi’s special trait of split personalities, though her male side disappeared during her accident. She has the skill of self-hypnosis, which is to say that once she holds onto a sword, she activates a ‘swordswoman’ type trait within her which increases her skills with the sword. Also, the self-hypnosis with the sword, especially the very old sword she uses to fight Arayan, she awakens her third personality, which is the ‘original Shiki’, that is to say before the Ryougi’s skill of split personality was within her, this personality was the one she was born with. This third personality is more or less ‘God’, as Touko explains that it is linked directly to Akasha, the root of all things and the goal of every single Magi. It is possible that this third personality IS Akasha itself, which makes it ‘God’. Together with her eyes of Death Perception, Ryougi Shiki is by far the most powerful character in the Type-Moon universe i’ve seen. The Kara no Kyoukai characters were used as a prototype for Type-Moon’s more famous piece, Tsukihime.

Tsukihime (moon princess), is a rather straight forward story if you don’t bother with the minor details. But behind the scenes of each character lies a deep secret that connects the characters together. As i said before, that the Kara no Kyoukai characters were used as a base for the Tsukihime casts. Mainly with the main character. The main guy in Tsukihime is Tohno Shiki. Though the kanji is different, the pronounce is the same as Ryougi Shiki. Tohno Shiki was originally from the Nanaya clan of demon slayers. The Nanaya and the Ryougi were from the same demon-slaying organization. Tohno Shiki also experienced a near-death situation like Ryougi, and he gained his mystical eyes of Death Perception, but it is noted that his is weaker to Ryougi if you compare them. For one, Tohno Shiki didn’t get the full Nanaya training, and his mentality is slightly more meek than Ryougi, who went through the full Ryougi training to become the next successor. Ryougi Shiki can control her Mystic eyes of Death Perception, though the movie and the novel slightly differ on whether her eyes are permenently on or not. The movie doesn’t say it switches off, but most people would see it and assume it does. The novel says it is on for good. However Ryougi doesn’t suffer any mental stress like Tohno Shiki does. This can be explained in several ways, one is being Ryougi has a stronger will and mental power. Two, Ryougi ‘shares’ the stress with her other personality. Three, Ryougi has had training by Touko on how to control it. Tohno just gets glasses since Aoko sucks at control, though her tendency to blow things up is rather remarkable. Tohno Shiki’s character is based off Ryougi’s boyfriend, Kokuto Mikiya. They look the same, and they have the same voice actor.

Another reused character is probably Kokuto Azaka from Kara no Kyoukai. She has an incestuous love for her brother, and her magic is ignition (flames). Tohno Akiha from Tsukihime is modelled after her. She too has feelings for her brother, Tohno Shiki, but Tohno Shiki isn’t her blood brother. Akiha has demon blood in her (ironic since her adopted brother and her crush is from a demon slayer clan who has incestuous affairs to thicken their bloodlines), which allows her to DRAW heat from targets. It would appear as though the person is burning, but in fact this is just abnormal amounts of heat being drawn that it feels like it is burning.  The two also look alike. It is noted that Akiha goes to Asagami high school, a private school for girls. Asagami is the branch family of the now gone Asakami demon slaying clan. Irony again. There is an Asagami in Kara no Kyoukai, Asagami Fujino. She has to power to bend things, and she gained Clairvoyance during her battle with Ryougi, and so she has become a strong opponent, but luckily she’s no longer the enemy. Also to note, is that Aozaki Touko, the chain smoking doll making magician in Kara no Kyoukai, is the sister of Aozaki Aoko, the crazy explosive mage in Tsukihime who gives Tohno Shiki his glasses (the glasses were created by Touko and stolen by Aoko) and teaches him the values of life. Aoko holds the record for a all-you-can-eat at some restraunt, and Touko is mentioned in Fate’s Heaven’s Feel scenario as the person who helped Shirou get back his body.

Tsukihime takes a different route from Kara no Kyoukai, the latter being more focused on the work of rouge magicians, remenants of the different demon-slaying clans, and one mad serial killer. Tsukihime goes off deeper into the magical world, introducing vampires on top of the demons and demon-slaying clans. The characters include the poor Satsuki, who became a vampire and was suppose to have her own route but that got scrapped, the twin maids of Tohno who hold a dark past Kohaku and Hisui, the curry eating loving Ciel who is unable to die, and the main heroine of the story, the True Ancestor Arcueid Brunestud.

With the appearance of sequels to Tsukihime’s story, Kagetsu Tohya, and Melty Blood, new characters were introduced, like Mecha Hisui (made by Kohaku), Len (one of my top ten favourite anime girls), Sion (also another one of my top favourite), Wallachia etc. The story just gets more complicated with each new installment, and explaning it would take a long time. Though there is the funny part about Type-Moon company having a character called ‘Type-Moon’ in the Tsukihime storyline.

The next installment for the Type-Moon is Fate/Stay Night. Fate/Stay Night is split into three scenarios. The first being Fate/Stay Night. The second being Unlimited Blade Works. The last being Heaven’s Feel. Each scenario leads the main guy, Emiya Shirou, to choose his path and which girl he stays with.

The story of Fate/Stay Night enters the realm of holy and legends with the introduction of the Holy Grail, an object that holds so much magical power that it can bend reality to the will of its users. Unfortunately, by the time of Fate/Stay Night, the Holy grail had already been tainted, and using it by anyone would inevitably lead to disaster. Emiya Shirou is a young lad who survived a fire that was caused by the fighting over the Holy Grail. His biological parents were dead in the fire, and he was rescued and adopted by Emiya Kiritsugu, who fought in the previous Holy Grail war as a proxy fighter for the Einzbern family. Emiya Shirou was not meant to have magic, not even learn it, but he persisted. His adopted father was against it all the way but finally told Shirou to do magic where no one can see him, to help others from the shadows. Kind of resonable, as magic is a double edged sword, and most people would fear it.

Important characters to note in the Fate universe, is Shirou (obviously), Saber (shirou’s servant in the war and actually King Arthur, though why is a King a female is probably because it is more fun like that. She eats a LOT due to Shirou unable to provide enough mana for her insanely vast need for it, and likes cute things, fav animal is a lion), Tohsaka Rin (an idol at Shirou’s school, Shirou’s admired person, classical Tsundere, very good at magic and teaches Shirou a lot. In all routes she teams up with Shirou. She is actually lazy and rather crude despite her facade. According to a couple of doujins, she may have a liking for chinese food), Archer (Rin’s servant, a future possible version of Shirou who came back to kill Shirou. Though he denies it, he is an A+ ranked butler since he IS Shirou after all. His reality marble is capable of killing Berserker completely and is a natural enemy to Gilgamesh), Matou Sakura (who is actually Rin’s biological sister but was given away. She has strong affinity for magic and due to her harsh upbringing and history, has a Yandere side to her but overall a nice girl, albeit naive at times), Illya (a homunculus created by the Einzbern to contain the Holy Grail. Her mother, Irisviel von Einzbern, fought by the side of Kiritsugu, and the two had a possible relationship, which makes Illya Kiritsugu’s sort of daughter, and that makes Shirou her half brother…. of some sorts).

While the rest of the characters are important, the ones mentioned are the most important. Fate/Stay Night, Shirou is more determined to stick to his ideals and falls in love with Saber. In Unlimited Blade Works, Shirou knows the harshness of reality, but refuses to forsake his goals, chosing a balance between both and this route lets him be with Rin. The last route, Heaven’s Feel, Shirou abandons his childish ambitions, knowing that he cannot attain the impossible, and settles in reality with Sakura. Fate/Stay Night scenario had been played out in the anime series, and Unlimited Blade Works would be presented as a movie.

Overall, Unlimited Blade works was my favourite, because the confrontation between Archer and Shirou was epic. And because i prefer Rin to Saber and Sakura. I like Tsunderes. It should be noted that Shirou was, or more like still is, part of the Archery club, which explains his prowess with the bow and his class as Archer when summoned as a servant. However Shirou and Archer have a special skill that is unique to them. The power of Projection. It is commonly called Tracing by Shirou, and it allows the user to created an object that is within their minds. Normally, magicians don’t use this skill in combat due to it’s difficulty, its need to have constant mana being supplied to it, and the lack of materials to form the objects. However Shirou and Archer have the ability to create objects without the need for materials, with only the need for mana, though they need not supply as much as other magicians need. This may be due to Avalon being sealed inside Shirou, or may be due to his inherent nature of helping others while neglecting his own self. Humans by nature care more about themselves than others, making the concentration for creating another object rather hard as a portion of the mind of the user would still be focused on himself, distorting the image. Well, that is in theory. How the story actually explains it is rather difficult, but this is easier to understand. Shirou’s selflessness allows him to completely focus on his object without care and creates it. His expertise lies in swords, which explains his (and Archer’s) reality marble, the Unlimited Blade Works.

In the Unlimited Blade Works, a seperate reality is created, like all reality marbles, and within this world, countless, if not infinite number, of blades are scattered across what looks like a barren battlefield. Within this world, Shirou and Archer can create any blade they had seen before, all materials provided within that separate space of reality. Problem being a vast amount of mana is needed.

A sequel called Fate/Hollow Ataraxia that is more or less weird, with a repeating cycle of days, like Kagetsu Tohya of Tsukihime. Fate/Hollow has a mixture of stories and characters, and it is complicating to jot them all down.

As for Mahou Tsukia no Yoru (Magician’s Night), it talks about Aoko and her life as a magician (or more like her time as a magic student) Not much is known about it and is slated to be released in 2010.

Okay, enough about the official stuff. Let’s get onto doujins. My favourite of all doujin writers is Himura Kiseki. His skill is just awesome. His most famous work is the SwordDancer series, which plays on  the idea of a female Archer. The story behind this female Archer (Archer-ko) is rather deep if you read his books. Archer-ko is also his original character that can be seen more like his mascot than anything. I must admit, i do like her. Himura Kiseki also created ‘Betrayers’, a very graphic, but awesome doujin for Nanoha StrikerS. Himura Kiseki never fails to impress me. His designs and stories are detailed and very intricate. I’ve been writing fics and original stories for years now, and i know how difficult it is to create such complex stories like his. Either he took the story from a friend or hired assistant, and i know he does have helpers for his work, or he is a genius. I would like to say he is a genius, but who knows.

Archer-ko first came out as a playful female version of Archer, summoned by Rin instead of the original Archer. The first SwordDancer is rather amusing, and it shows her abilities. Unlike her male counterpart, her Kanshou and Bakuya swords are thinner and longer, changing its class from blades (knives), to swords. It is not known if she has the same reality marble, but she has her own noble phatasm called “Frozen Phantasy” (also called Phantom Cancellor), which has the ability to nullify any Noble Phantasm, though it appears that she needs to correctly adjust its output to match the Noble Phantasm it is meant to cancel. Archer-ko is often discribed by people to be an older version of Illya, though i have my thoughts on her being an adult version of Emillya (if we look at Himura Kiseki’s website, we can see he likes Sakura, so could Archer-ko be Sakura? Who knows, but most likely not).

Emillya is a doujin character originally thought up by another circle, though i forgot their name (Limit Break. The original concept name was Shirou-ko). It takes place at the end of Heaven’s Feel, where Shirou was suppose to die, but Illya gave her life to Emiya so that he may survive. However the doujins take a different route in that instead of Emiya having a body that is like his old one, he ended up in Illya’s body, though altered slightly, like being slightly taller, the hair being slightly rougher, and his hair being pink. This new mix is called Emillya by Rin to disguise his existence from Taiga, who doesn’t know anything about the War or magic (though Limit Break still continues to call this character Shirou-ko in stats. Also to note, Limit Break’s conceptual sketches have a character looking like Shiro-ko but with a Magical girl look. Sporting a Nanoha-like costume, but shorter skirt for easier movement, twin tails, having ears like Utawarerumono’s Eruru, and fires noble phantasms by use of a magical bow that is fixed on the left arm. This is the same as Himura’s Archer-ko’s weapon. It may be that Himura used to work with Limit Break, or that Himura and Limit are friends and therefore allowing the sharing of designs). In Himura’s take on Emillya’s life Shirou had gotten so used to being a girl that he starts acting like a girl, much to his chagrin. So much so that he actually behaves like a girl, having feminine taste (he now like sweet things, and it noted that as a boy, he hated sweet things), wears feminine clothes, and reacts in an extremely feminine way.

Looking at Himura’s SwordDacer 2 series, we understand the world from which Archer-ko cames from. A more chaotic future, Shirou being the Counter Guardian of the World (he made this pact with the world to save lives, but instead he ended up killing people in order to save others. This fact is what pained him greatly and caused him to want to kill himself when summoned in the War as a servant). Archer-ko appears and proclaims herself as a ‘counter-counter guardian’, one who would not sacrifice a single person in order to save others. She taunts Shirou by saying ‘she is the remains of the ideals he discarded’ when he demanded to know who she is.

Through these books, we can understand a few things. One, Shirou doesn’t know who she is. Two, due to a scene, we know that she isn’t Shirou/Emillya from this timeline (that if she is Emillya from another timeline, she must be summoned after the war since Shirou from this timeline doesn’t know her), as it was shown in book 1 and 2 in a flashback that Archer-ko witnessed an argument between Rin and Shirou. The argument about whether the need to sacrifice other was needed to save others. Rin then asks Archer-ko what she would do if she were in that situation after Shirou had walked off. This part shows that Archer-ko is either Illya, someone else (Sakura), or was summoned by Rin as with the first book for the Holy Grail War. There is also the case where she is decribed to have an extremely vast reserve of mana, able to surpress a curse that would kill her instantly if she did not use her magic to hold it back. Shirou is not known to have a vast amount of mana, but rather lack of mana which resulted in Saber’s infamous appetite (though if Archer-ko was Illya or Emillya, then that can be explained since Illya has a large amount of mana being the Holy grail, and Emillya is Shirou in Illya’s body). In book 2, we are shown a rather lewd scene in Archer-ko’s dream, where she is trapped by magic and is shown a dream where she and Shirou are actually lovers. While this can excite the young perverts in all of us, if we continue on, Archer-ko breaks free of the dream, and Zelretch (a famous magician in the Type-Moon universe, as well as having ties to all of Type-Moon’s merchandises), appears as the one responsible for trapping Archer-ko. He tells her that that dream sequence was something her heart desired. From this we know that Archer-ko is definitely a girl, though obvious from the beginning. Her love for Shirou may be proof of her being Illya, or someone else (Sakura?). Or it may be that Emillya has gone gay, which may be since Archer-ko is very feminine…. even her tastes and her screams of things being cute is very feminine.

However, in the third book, we find Illya. Though her body is breaking down, she is very much still alive. This part would make readers think and wonder about Archer-ko’s identity. It is still possible that Archer-ko is Illya from another timeline, but Archer-ko and Illya talk to one another like they are seperate people, not acknowledging each other as the same. Perhaps it is because (IF Archer-ko is from anther timeline, which i very well think she is) Illya and Archer-ko see each other as different people. Illya’s servants as well, homunculus who do not move into combat unless it was their master, fought hard to defend Archer-ko and not knowing why they felt the strong urge to protect Archer-ko.

However. At the last scene, last panel of the third book, we see that with Archer-ko’s body, is the treasured jewel of the Tohsaka family. This jewel is very symbolic to Shirou, Archer (male), and Rin. In Fate/Stay Night, the common prologue is that Lancer saw Shirou while he was fighting with Archer and Rin. The rule being that there were to be no witnesses to their battles, Lancer stabbed Shirou in the heart and fled. Rin, feeling responsible for Shirou’s premature death (and it was also hinted that she may have held some feelings for him or at least noticed him before), used her family’s treasured magical jewel to heal him. The jewel has been in Shirou’s care ever since. It is this same jewel that causes Rin to summon Archer (shirou) during the War. Rin initially used the jewel to try and summon Saber, using the jewel’s vasts amounts of stored magic to try to increase her chances. However the jewel acted more like a beacon, attracting whatever it connected to, which is Archer (shirou) who is the future self of Shirou and still holds onto the jewel. This also explains why Shirou summoned Saber, since he held Avalon (the lost sheath for Excalibur) within his body.

One more piece of evidence to look at is Archer-ko’s ability itself. She is a mirror to Shirou, able to do tracing on the same level as him. While we do not know if Illya is adept at using Trace, we do know that Shirou’s ability to Trace and Project swords is unique to only him. Tracing has been described as a uselss, but very difficult magic to master. His speed of tracing weapons as Archer is top-rated, so the chances of Illya being able to match up to him on the same level is near impossible. The only combination of large magic reserves and abilities of Archer is to have either a genetic clone of Archer changed into a girl, or Emillya.

Now looking at the evidence, the question to Archer-ko’s identity is rather complicated. Illya may know of the jewel, but Shirou would not give it up, more like it has become part of him. The majority of people still say Archer-ko is Illya, yet evidence is starting to push this closer to my original thought or Archer-ko being Emillya.

This has been a long rant, but reading the books has taken a load off my mind from studying continuously. Himura Kiseki’s newest book, SwordDancers 2 Book 4 is to be released at the next Comiket, Comiket 77 (31st December 2009), West hall 2, booth 68-a. Sigh, i want to go to buy his book…. but i’ll have to wait for either scans online, or i go to Japan again. I really hope to go to Japan again, it is like a Holy land for Otakus outside Japan. I know that Japan isn’t all perfect like some idiots dream it to be. Japan has its own share of problems and faults, but it is still a nice place to go, though expensive…. Tokyo and Osaka are ranked the top two most expensive places to live in Asia. Third is Singapore by the way…. Singapore… sigh, great cheap food, but everything else is…. sigh.

I’m going to start on my next fic project soon. It would be a Tye-Moon series, each relating to the others. The first one is my Tsukihime fic, named “Seven Nights”, shall feature Ryougi Shiki and Archer-ko and hint of Illya. Next would be Fate/Stay Night fic, right now thinking of calling it “Blades of Knights”, featuring some Tsukihime characters and perhaps Touko. Ryougi may appear as well though i’m still working on the lay out of the storyline. The last one to be written would be for Kara no Kyoukai. I have not thought of a proper story line, since the novels and movies ended in a nice way that i can’t think of anything to add…. i’m more of an action writer, so i need conflict. I’ll think of it when the time comes. Right now, exams, and i started on a Macross Frontier fic.  This would never end.

I wrote something interesting for my Philosophy term paper, and it popped into my head while half of my brain was processing the last Kara no Kyoukai movie, and the half focused on eating left over chinese take-out.

Kind of useless for my paper, but i thought, meh, what the heck.
